How can I pay for my new awnings?

top
We try to make it easy for you! While we gladly accept cash or checks, we also accept major credit cards:
Graphic - Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card Logos

What sizes are available?

top
A standard retractable awning can be produced in lengths of 7' to 55' with projections of 5', 6'7", 8'2", 10', 11'6", and 13'1". Each awning is custom made to the 1/4" to provide the perfect fit for all applications. In situations where the projection is greater than the width of the awning, our exclusive "Little Big" unit will meet your needs.

Does the awning need any poles to support it?

top
None whatsoever. The combination of our strong steel mounting bar, heavy-duty spring loaded lateral arms, and a solid professional installation eliminates the need for support poles. You will have total freedom of movement beneath your Perfecta Retractable Awning.

Do I need a motor?

top
A good general rule is if the awning is 200 square feet or larger, especially if it has a 13'1" projection, motorizing is a consideration. Although, with the use of a 7.8:1 gear instead of the standard 4:1 gear, larger awnings can be manually operated with ease. Somfy Motors also offers a remote control operation. Additional optional Somfy features include Motion Sensors and Infrared Heaters.

How long will my awning last?

top
With proper use and care, you can expect your awning to last a very long time. Sunbrella, Recacril and Dickson fabrics are warranted not to fade and to resist rot and mildew for a minimum of 5 years. Plus, we sew with Gore-Tex Tenara thread, which is warranted for the life of your fabric. We have many units that are well over 10 years old and still going strong. When a re-cover is needed, the replacement can be done in place for about a third of the original cost of the awning.

What is a hood and do I need one?

top
The protective hood is used on awnings that are installed on an exposed wall. Since retractable awnings stay up year round, the hood acts as a gutter to shield the fabric from rain, ice, snow, debris, and birds. When retracted, our unique hood design encloses the Sunrise or Little-Big in a profile that measures 8.5" high x 6.5" deep, the smallest, sleekest in the industry. If your awning can be mounted beneath a soffit, or overhang, the hood may not be required. In a roof mount situation, our TOGA unit (see our products page) encases the fabric roll within an aluminum tube.

Can I use the awning in the rain?

top
Retractable awnings are designed mainly for sun protection and should be retracted in heavy rains. However, awnings with shorter projections (5',6'7",8'2", 10') when pitched properly, can shed a light rain. You will want to avoid having water pool on the fabric. When large amounts of water collect on the fabric it will stretch and become billowy. Heavy amounts of water can also damage the frame. The Perfecta Retractable Awnings are are certified, wind tested to withstand 20 mph winds (Force 5). After rigorous testing by TUV (the German product testing institute), Perfecta has earned the right to display the TUV seal of approval. Look for the TUV certification seal.

What about mounting the awning to my house?

top
First, all JMT installations are performed by experienced JMT staff. No subcontractors are sent to your home. Our cast aluminum brackets are securely lag bolted to solid framing members. Siding is not crushed, mounting boards are usually not needed. We would like to have a minimum of 8' of height off the patio or deck for projections up to 10'. Longer projections should be mounted higher to assure correct pitch. Low overhangs or soffits present no problem, since we can easily roof mount any retractable awning. With our “Toga” unit a roof mounted awning will not interfere with existing gutters. The awning can be buried in snow and the fabric will be protected inside a powder coated aluminum tube. Our installation will be neat, clean, and watertight.

Aren't all retractable awnings basically the same?

top
In some ways that is true, most awning companies utilize the same fabric suppliers. We use mainly Recasens, Sunbrella and Dickson. Most awning companies use Somfy motors and electrical components. The real difference lies in the outstanding engineering and sturdiness of the framework, the quality of the sewing, and the attention to detail and care taken during a professional installation.

These are the reasons to choose Perfecta from JMT Awnings. Frame - The Sunrise weighs 10.35 lbs. per lineal foot of frame compared to the 8.25 lbs. of the competition, that's 25% heavier. Our roll tube and mounting bar are heavy gauge galvanized steel giving our frame unsurpassed strength where it is needed most. All hardware is stainless steel. All brackets are cast aluminum, no light weight extrusions. There are no plastic parts. The entire framework is powder coated, there are no spray painted parts. Our arms feature triple steel aircraft cables fully sheathed. The framework is covered by a 10 year limited warranty. Our superior engineering is evident even when the Sunrise is rolled in and not in use.

How do you price retractable awnings,
by the square foot?

top
No. Since Perfecta Awnings are custom made and may require different types of accessories, each awning is priced individually. For example, a 21' long x 13'1" projection has 2 arms, a 21' x 11'6" has three arms. The smaller awning actually costs more than the larger because of the additional arm. Pricing by the square foot would be unfair to the customer since the larger awning would always be more expensive. That is why we will come to your home, take an accurate measurement, show you the wide variety of fabric choices and photos of past installations, and give you a free no obligation quote.

How long does it take to get a retractable awning?

top
Normally, we will be calling to set up a convenient installation time approximately 2-3 weeks from the date your awning was ordered. During quieter periods, your new awning might be ready to install in less than 2 weeks.

Do you work with Homeowner Associations?

top
Yes we serve many communities throughout the area where homeowners are already enjoying Perfecta Awnings from JMT Awnings. We are happy to meet and consult with your Homeowners Association when your community is considering approval of retractable awnings.
